Wow! We can't believe Monday is already over! It was an amazing day!
Every camper got to meet their new brother or sister for the week during our brother/sister activity this morning. We will be doing activities with the brother/sister pairs every day this week and we have some great activities planned! Today we did "Creation Interviews" where each pair picked something in creation to interview--give a name to, create a personality for, and talk about how God made it special. We have some pretty clever campers this morning and everyone really used their imaginations! We had a twig named Twigton. We had a tree in one pair who's grandfather was the stump another pair interviewed. We even had a leaf who was a Justin Bieber fan!
After that we had our learning centers! We had dance, drama, construction, fun in the sun, art exploration, and sports. In sports they played a great game of kick ball and had some pretty amazing catches! Fun in the Sun had a blast doing Marco Polo today. Art Exploration worked with pastels and made some wonderful creations and learned a new talent to take home! Construction began working on making catapults! Our drama learning center was laughing the whole time as they did some improv skits. And our Dance group is already well on their way to getting their dance routine down!
We had a beautiful sunny afternoon for our pool time and everyone was having a blast! Some of the campers were showing off their swimming and underwater talents and some were enjoying games of volleyball and basketball, or just lounging around with some fun noodles! It was a perfect day to go swim!
In the afternoon, some of our oldest girls went up on the high ropes course, our youngest boys went on a nature hike, and we had a group have some fun at the pond with paddle boats and canoes!
We had an amazing worship service led by our Counselors-in-Training and learned all about the creation story through a fun and entertaining skit. We also learned how all things in creation are connected to one another and that all things are also connected to God (and yes, we did include the mosquitoes).
Some of our first year counselors led us in a fun-filled campfire where we learned some new songs and worked on some super fun and crazy motions to go with them! We might look silly while we do it, but we always have a great time!
Our older campers got to know each other a little bit better in Koinonia after campfire and learned about how when hurtful things are done to us or we do hurtful things to others, they leave wrinkles on the soul that can never fully go away. They talked about the importance off trust and of treating one other with respect. They also had some time to share with other things from their lives as they begin to create life-long bonds with one another.
We are looking forward to a great day tomorrow! And pray for no "r" word!
Check out the pictures from Sunday that are posted and check back for more pictures tomorrow.
