Camp is officially halfway over and it is hard to believe! Time feels like it is flying by way too fast! We don't even want to think about leaving yet.
Tuesday was a pretty great day, despite the rain we got in the morning that made us shift things around in our learning centers and rose the level of the creek enough to where our creek walk got cancelled. Luckily the sun eventually came out and we ended up having a wonderful, though very humid and muggy, day.
We did some crazy minute-to-win-it games with our brother/sister pairs in the morning. I bet you didn't know how difficult it was to drop toothpicks into a 2-liter bottle! Or drop a CD onto a cup and get it to stay on! Everyone had a blast doing it and we did end up with some minute-to-win-it champions!
Our sports and fun in the sun learning centers came together yesterday to play some whiffle ball and some other fun games. In Dance, they learned more of their routine and even came up with some of their own moves! It was great watching the campers work together to choreograph their 8-counts. In art exploration they worked with air dry clay and made some awesome creations including a bird, a party penguin with a balloon, and a cross. In drama they did an improv dating show where one person had to guess what/who the three contestants were which was hilarious to watch! In construction they kept working hard on their catapults! (They are already picking out their targets!)

Here's what one of our campers said about art exploration: "Today we all made clay sculptures in Art Exploration. It was a bit messy, but we all enjoyed ourselves."
The sun came out shortly after our pool time, but boy did that water feel good on the hot muggy day we had yesterday! We had a great game of basketball going on and a group of campers and staff seeing how long they could volley a beach ball. They almost got through the alphabet twice!
We only had one activity going on in the afternoon, but our younger guys sure did have a blast at archery! We had a group that was going to go on a creek walk, but unfortunately the rain made the water get to high and it was also flowing pretty fast.
Our oldest campers planned a great worship service for us. We learned about how God is always shaping and forming us and we even got a chance to make some creations with play dough! Each person made something that meant something to them and then our worship groups had to put all the individual creations together to make a group creation. It turned out really good and we once again got to see the creativity of our campers and staff!
We had another great campfire and we had the best snack of the week--S'MORES!! We are learning new songs every day and really keeping up the camp spirit and energy at our campfires.
Our CIT's lead Koinonia in the evening for our East side campers and did a fantastic job! They played a game of would you rather and even came up with the questions themselves! It looks like we are going to have some great new counselors next year!
