It is hard to believe that camp is already over! It seems like we just began. All the campers and staff are back home, but we are already missing the wonderful community we have been part of over the last 6 days. And though camp is over, the bonds and the memories that were made there will last a lifetime.
We had an AWESOME dance this year!! There was not a single person there who did not get out on the dance floor. We were already amazed by our campers artistic skills and creativity, but we were shocked by the number of AMAZING dancers we have! Some got on the floor and did the worm, some salsa danced a bit, and some just danced their hearts out--but a great time was had by all! We even had one camper say he wished we had TWO dances during the week.
We got to see some amazing talents Thursday night at our talent show--we had a clarinet player, a couple piano players, some comedians, our dance and drama learning centers, and a skit from our East side boys. We also watched a slide show of pictures from the whole week.
Our candlelight walk to Vesper was inspirational and emotional. Tears were shed by many as we began to say our farewells and prepare to head back home. It is always so wonderful to experience the deep bonds that were created in such a short period of time. In just a few short days, bonds are created that are deeper than all other bonds made through the year. The friendships made here are true friendships that are unbreakable and will last a whole life through.
Thanks to everyone who helped make this week of camp one of the best weeks we have ever had. We could not have done it without our amazing staff, the churches who send campers and help cover costs, the parents who make the financial sacrifices and make the drive to bring their children, without the site staff (both seasonal and full time) of Pilgrim Park, and without all the amazing campers who help us create an environment were everyone is welcome and accepted for who they are and for one week of their life can live without judgment and truly know they are lived.
It is hard to walk away from camp and not be in awe and feel inspired. And, to quote our theme song for the week, the camp experience is truly "Indescribable."
The countdown for next year begins: Only 51 weeks left!!
